Christopher Adams to act in spring play at Union College

2012 Mar 2

Christopher Adams of Milford will be performing in this year's spring theater production at Union College.

The play is "The Lion in Winter," written by James Goldman. Adams will play the role of the young King of France, Phillip. It is scheduled for five performances, March 22-24 and March 30-31. It is being directed by Dr. Rebecca Pettys, who is also acting alongside Adams.

"The Lion in Winter" is set during Christmas holiday 1183 and follows Henry II of England and his wife, Eleanor of Aquitaine. The two parents are arguing over which of their two sons will be next in line to the throne. While it is based on real historical characters, the play itself is completely fictional.

Pettys described this play as "one of the wittiest plays ever." She added that the play should have people laughing, crying and experiencing a whole range of emotions throughout the production.

"It is billed as a comedy by the author. However, the play is also very moving and exciting as well as witty," Pettys said.
