Richard Mathes Elected President for Union College SGA

Union College recently held campus-wide elections for next year's Student Government Association. Richard Mathes, of Corbin, was elected as President.

Mathes, a Junior at Union College, said that with his win, he hopes to help create a closer-knit student body on Union's campus through having the most transparent, active and friendly SGA yet.

"Specificlaly an SGA website will be created, a presidential blog/podcast utilized and a close working relationship with the administration fostered," Mathes said.

Other future planes include utilizing technology to inform students, forums to gauge student opinion, lobbying the administration on students' opinons, improving eating options and the potential idea of an SGA scholarsip.

The elections were held campuswide, and students voted Thursday March 29 and Friday March 30. The winners were announced on Monday April 2. Mathes ran against one other opponent in this election. This will be the first time he has served on Union College's Student Government Association.

Union College is a four-year liberal arts college related to the United Methodist Church
